The combination of earlier snow melt and recent rain storms have pushed local rivers over their banks. From what I've read today, it looks like the Missouri river has peaked at 14.5 feet, and is expected to start receding soon. The Sun River is also starting to slowly recede. Twenty-one years ago, I moved to Portland from Montana. I couldn't wait to get out and experience *more*. I knew there was more to life than Montana. A few years ago, I started thinking about moving back. Last summer, I decided to make it happen.
It's not that I don't still love Portland. I'm just not as in love with it as I was back then. The population doubled, but the infrastructure didn't, the political climate felt hypocrytical and strange, and the solid gray skies were starting to get to me.
